Last week was legendary in Wilson’s progression. We walked to his vet appointment, got through the heartworm test and all the vaccines and there was even some tail wagging during the visit. He didn’t get his nails clipped or ears, teeth or hips checked, but we will do that another day. We didn’t try to weigh him because we’ve visited the office many times and seen him pancake himself onto the floor as we approach the scale. Overall, it was a huge success because we got the heartworm test , vaccines, and figured out medication doses for contractors to work at our house. Whew! What a relief!
When we walked out of the vet’s office our truck was waiting in the parking lot to rescue him. Wilson looked in it, considered it, paced, then my husband pulled out the ramp and Wilson walked right in. (We hadn’t used the ramp in a while, but it was wise to bring it along.) So, we closed the door, offered some treats, and all drove home together. Wilson didn’t eat his treats as on the way, but his body language wasn’t panicked. He thought it was pretty interesting to look at dogs that were out on walks and stick his nose out in the air. We pulled right in, opened the door and he got out like that was routine. A few minutes later he jumped right back in for a treat. Who knows, Wilson may be hitting a drive thru to pick up a burger soon!
